EPC A rated new build,
Harpenden, Hertfordshire
Development of an energy efficient detached house in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, Stonehouse Consultants were commissioned by the private client to provide a range of both pre-construction and construction services, these including single stage negotiations with the Main Contractor. Stonehouse Consultants were appointed as Contract Administrator and Project Quantity Surveyor for the duration of the construction period.
The project was awarded on a JCT intermediate contract with contractor’s design, working in close partnership with the private client and the main contractor the project was successfully completed in September 2024 achieving and EPC A rating.
The development project included:
- Demolition of existing and re-build of detached residential property, latest innovative technologies were installed to reduce the carbon footprint, energy efficiency and comfort. The design incorporated Passivhaus-levels of energy usage, using externally insulated Porotherm external walls, installation of air source heat pump, photovoltaics, MVHR system, intelligent lighting throughout and cinema area with projector.
- External landscaping including the installation of an 8,400 litre underground rainwater harvester.
